The Hemmel is our latest cottage to be converted, from an old cattle shed, although you’d probably not be able to tell that cows and calves used to reside here now that it is finished! Our Bookings Agent has graded this property as 5* standard, something we are very proud to have achieved.

This has been our biggest and most adventurous project to date, something we started working on in June 2018 and have only just completed in December 2019. The Hemmel can sleep up to 6 people split between 1 Double, 1 Twin and 1 King Size bedroom, all with en-suite bathrooms / shower rooms, making this an ideal choice for larger parties who like to have their own space in which to relax. 

The main focal point of The Hemmel is the gigantic living space which has bi-folding doors and a feature arched window overlooking the beautiful Northumbrian hills and leading out onto an enclosed patio courtyard. This main living area has a stunning fitted kitchen in cobble grey and island in indigo both with white quartz worktops. There is an induction hob, two single electric ovens, microwave, integrated dishwasher, fridge and freezer and more than enough space to store all your supplies during your stay with us. The large kitchen island is the perfect space to enjoy a coffee (or maybe a glass of wine or two) overlooking the views and chatting to whoever is on chef duties that day! 

The living space is also where you will find the reclaimed solid oak dining table, luxurious sofas and 65″ Smart TV and DVD player, so even on those wet and windy days you can enjoy a peaceful time relaxing inside. This is a light and airy space with high ceilings and windows offering views on every side of the building. 

There is an accessible bedroom off the main living area where you will find a double bed and en-suite shower room, with waterfall shower. 

The custom made solid oak staircase (5 steps) leads you up to the Master Suite which has a King Size bed, solar powered VELUX blackout blinds and an en-suite with free standing double ended bath, gigantic waterfall shower and even a heated mirror! This bedroom has a feature “window seat” which is where the old barn door used to be, but it is now the perfect place to snuggle up with a warm drink and a good book. 

The Twin bedroom has duel aspect windows and another lovely en-suite with waterfall shower. 

There is also a separate Utility room with a washer and dryer. The whole property is kept warm with the aid of underfloor heating throughout and is tastefully decorated in pale greys, tweeds and traditional fabrics with wooden laminate flooring. 

We are so very proud of The Hemmel and are sure that you will love this space as much as we do. 

Although mobile phone signal is limited (due to being in the National Park) you will have the benefit of super fast broadband / wi-fi throughout the property.
